Our Lovely Living Situation

We live in such a lovely place. The longer we're here, the more we love it. It's so nice living here - just the two of us. Bushfield is a cute little town. We are surrounded by farmland and wildlife. We are visited by lorikeets daily. It was so funny when they found out we were the ones putting the bird seed in the tree! They wouldn't stop squawking, like we had blown their little bird minds.

We also have possums that visit every night. One of the possums ate all of the bird seed recently, so we've started taking the seed inside at night. We've been putting bird seed out for months and it's only just discovered it, so it took a while. I left some fruit on the fence for it instead, and it absolutely loved that.

We've made friends with our neighbours cat. She is quite cute - we know when she's around because she has a little bell on her collar. She explored our house, too. She just walked right in when the door was open. Funny little thing. She is a lot friendlier than the dog who just walks around everywhere. Surprising isn't it? The dog doesn't even make eye contact with us when it walks by our house. It's pretty funny actually.

We also see the neighbours sheep sometimes. They can be quite loud sometimes, it cracks us up. There are cows across the road, as well - so we hear them sometimes too.

We also have koalas! We saw one walking up our driveway one night... she made a really high pitched "YIP" sound. She was running away from a male koala who clearly wanted to mate... It was a very eventful night that one.

This morning we woke up to about six galahs in the tree above our bedroom, and we haven't seen them around here before.

The warmer it gets, the more wildlife we get. Although, the lorikeets have been loyal visitors all year round.

We really love the location of this house, but the reality is, we most likely won't be here for too much longer. We are just enjoying it while we still can.

We've been doing a lot of maintenance around the house. Just lots of little things. I fixed the toilet because the button kept falling out. Dad helped me replace the fluorescent lights on our high ceilings. We fixed the draft that kept coming through our front door. I washed the skylights as well, because they were filthy. They look really good now! We've replaced the curtains in the spare room, too. We chose some simple navy blue ones, with cute brown buttons.

We've also been adding lots of plants to our house. It's really nice with the plants. We have some ferns, a lily, and a lucky bamboo plant.

We've also got an electric mower - which actually works really well. Our lawns look very nice now. We've been spending a lot of time gardening, weeding, and just tidying up. We added lots of solar lights!

Our landlord is absolutely lovely. She came back from New Zealand with chocolate for us! It was so nice! She collects our mail for us when we leave, too. We gave her some of my mums truffles as a thank you. Then she got us a sea-creature themed tea towel from the big banana! We are both so grateful to have our landlord as a neighbour.

We are really enjoying living here together. We have so much freedom, and we've been making so many improvements. It's just a lot of fun, really.

Rhi and I love living together in general. We would be happy anywhere, as long as we're together. This house has three bedrooms, but one is a spare room and the other is our office. We have a single carport, but we don't have to worry about the car space. Rhi and I always travel together. We take turns with who's car is in the carport, and who's car will be used. This house is actually perfect for us right now.

There are so many things I love about living as a couple. Because we are so comfortable together, we have so much more freedom. It's sort of the same freedom you get when you live alone.

Really, the best thing about living together is that it is a completely freeing experience. We can focus more on each other. We can spend more time together. We don't have to worry about anyone else but each other.

We've found it super easy to stay on top of the bills, even though it's just the two of us. The only bills we have to pay are internet and electricity. We put money away every fortnight to cover them. Our last electricity bill was a lot cheaper than we expected. We saved hundreds of dollars! It's surprising how much electricity we don't use! We do pretty much everything together, so I suppose we don't use much electricity because of that.

We got our first Christmas tree together. It's the first one that has been 100%, completely ours. We both went to each others family homes to help decorate their trees, so we've decorated three trees this year! I just loved being able to choose our very own decorations. I loved being able to decorate our tree together, just us two, exactly the way we wanted to. It's lovely... just like our living situation.
