Eventful Fishing Trip

Today my girlfriend took me fishing. We were fishing off the rocks at Killarney beach. Rhi was the first to catch a fish (it was a juvenile salmon). I had been getting a few nibbles for a while but I finally caught a fish and I was so excited.... but it was a pufferfish. We had a lot of trouble getting it to let go of the hook because it wouldn't stop biting down on it. I put it in the water while we got the pliers - but then it 'puffed up'.

We finally got the hook out of it and it swam away... then not long later Rhi caught an even bigger pufferfish! We struggled to get the hook out of that one too - but when we set it free, it got washed into the rocks and then got stuck because it had puffed itself up and wedged itself there. I think I was trying to free it for about an hour, and the tide was going out. I was just determined to get it out. There was even a crab underneath it that was trying to poke at it. Then it finally started deflating a little bit - and it drifted out... but it was floating like a balloon. I picked it up and wrapped it in a wet towel and got waist-deep in the water to set it free, because otherwise it would just drift into the rocks again. It started moving its' tail - but it looked quite hilarious because it was still inflated like a balloon and was wiggling all over the place with its face poking out of the water. It finally deflated and started swimming normally - but then it turned around and swam right up to me as if it was thanking me... it was really cute. It swam around on the surface for a while before disappearing.

As a result of my rescue mission I ended up soaking wet so I wore a towel instead of pants.

We have never seen a pufferfish actually 'puff up' - so that was a first. We didn't actually catch any other fish for the rest of the day - but it was definitely worth it.

How many years has it been?!

Hello to anyone reading! It's been what... 3... 4 years? Where have I been? Well - the same place I was last, geographically speaking. I love life out in the country. I don't really miss the beach, although it's good to visit sometimes.  So... I'm disabled. I probably wouldn't have identified myself as disabled 4 years ago, but due to my severe symptoms, the term is fitting now. I'm disabled and proud to be. Being disabled is not something to be ashamed of.  I still live with fibromyalgia but have now also been diagnosed with POTS - Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. I've probably had POTS longer than fibromyalgia. I believe fibromyalgia actually began later for me. I had been previously misdiagnosed with pre-diabetes, which didn't make much sense at the time. Our Lovely Living Situation

We live in such a lovely place. The longer we're here, the more we love it. It's so nice living here - just the two of us. Bushfield is a cute little town. We are surrounded by farmland and wildlife. We are visited by lorikeets daily. It was so funny when they found out we were the ones putting the bird seed in the tree! They wouldn't stop squawking, like we had blown their little bird minds. We also have possums that visit every night. One of the possums ate all of the bird seed recently, so we've started taking the seed inside at night. We've been putting bird seed out for months and it's only just discovered it, so it took a while. I left some fruit on the fence for it instead, and it absolutely loved that. We've made friends with our neighbours cat. She is quite cute - we know when she's around because she has a little bell on her collar. She explored our house, too. My Life Update

I haven't written a blog post for a while. I've been preoccupied with posting stories on the Mighty, Unwritten, and most of all - editing and uploading videos for my youtube channel. If you're wondering where I am, what I'm doing... now is the time I tell you. Rhi got a job with fisheries, and we moved to the mountains together. I haven't found a job yet. I've been looking for work for a while, yet living in the country isn't the best for job opportunities. Rhi was very lucky to land her job right after finishing our honours projects. That meant that we could search for a new house and move right when our lease was ending in Warrnambool, which was perfect timing. We didn't have to go back to our parents houses or anything, we just packed up and moved to the next place! It feels as though our lives together have officially started, in terms of actually supporting ourselves and being independent. No more centrelink, no more studying. We are in charge of ou
